I'm assuming there will be no more issues with the external antenna with the new iphone...or am I wrong? The renderings we've seen of the rumored iphone 5 show the same cutouts where the antenna is. Will holding your finger over that still cause your reception to go down? I can't imagine Apple allowing that to happen after that big mess.

Was overblown to begin with and most did not have any issues
The 4s has not had the same hype and has been heavily used

I wouldn't anticipate any antenna problems

I thought that the iPhone 4S design was supposed to "correct" the issue.

Yep, it did. It's certainly still possible to get a poor signal (like with any phone) but the 4S did solve the "touch it exactly right here and it drops some bars" problem. So since the 4S is improved over the 4 I'm sure the 5 (or whatever) will be just as good if not better.

It's also worth pointing out that Apple still sells the 4 without the fix and somehow people are just fine to keep buying those. This kind of shows exactly how much of a "problem" this actually was in the first place.

I have the 4 and my bars drop all the way down when I'm holding my finger over it, however, I've always used a case so it's never mattered to me.

I never had any issues with it on my iPhone 4, and definitely not my 4S.

You can be sure they will have heavily tested reception before shipping a new iPhone.
