Question about apple care(mbp > 1 yr old)

So i have a 2.4 SR mbp. No problems with the unit, no issues at all, it is flawless. I did not get Apple Care with the initial purchase, and did not add it in the subsequent 1 year warranty period.

It is just over a year old now. Do 3rd party companies offer similar hardware support as the Apple care program? I do not need software/troubleshooting coverage, only against a major hardware issue.

I suppose that if i bought Apple care on eBay or elsewhere after the 1 year period that I would not be able to enter the code on the Apple support website, correct?

Correct. If you buy an applecare code of eBay, you still won't be able to use it if your computer is more than a year old.

If you bought the MBP with a credit card, check to see if they offer anything. My AMEX Blue and I think two of my VISAs double the manufacturer's warranty period.
