Hi, my dad is thinking of getting a new MBP. He also would like to get the new Apple LED Display, but he also still needs to use his old (very old) mac which only has VGA. My question is, is he able to use the screen with this old mac via some sort of adapter. If not then what is good screen of comparable quality which he can use both with, preferably 24inch. Thanks a lot.

Both HP and Dell have 24" displays that have the same/similar panels to Apple's.

Do a quick search of this site for IPS panel and it will pull up the 24" displays available from other companies.

Also, IPS panels offer the best color accuracy and viewing angle, but if you're just looking for a good monitor for basic movies, word processing, internet surfing, etc, it's not that compelling to pay for more - just grab a discounted monitor for a leading brand.

thanks a lot everyone :) yer I think we'll go for an IPS panel screen cus my dad does a lot of video editing (thats his job lol) thanks a lot.
