My father has a droid for his business right now on Verizon and He isn't due for an upgrade for a while and his droid never works.

He wants to upgrade by either canceling a contract or paying retail.

My questions are:

Can he cancel a Verizon number at Apple Store so he can't re-up for a new contract?

Can he pay retail at apple store for the Verizon iPhone? How much?

He can just go to the apple store/verizon store and either pay to cancel his contract or pay for the full price of the iphone which is 599/699 for the 16/32GB phones. He should probably check out the early termination fee since it might be prorated and come out to be less than just buying a new phone without a contract. Either 200 for 16GB phone and 300 for and ETF (or something like that) and then he gets a new 2 year contract or he just keeps his contract and pays 599 for the 16GB phone. I would just do whatever is cheaper.
