I plan on buying a used AVP from a private seller online and they said it still has 2 years warranty left and that they have applecare+ for it. The person provided me a screenshot with the serial # of the device so I could check and this is what it shows. It says AppleCare+ Renews: June 30,2025. How is that 2 years? Will the applecare plus that they paid for carry over to my name when I purchase the device? I'm not entirely sure how it works.

It’s not. Looks like month-to-month AC+ to me since purchase date is 09/2024

Yes. It will carry over until the renew date. Then it will expire. Month-to-month AC+ is not transferable. Only fixed term AC+ is transferable. See Section 10

Thanks, but since the used AVP was bought in September 2024 of last year, which means that if I were to purchase it, then I'd still have warranty until September 2025?

And if I decide to purchase applecare+ for it, will I also be able to do so after buying it?

Which country are you in?
I do not know that VPro in the US has a full year warranty, should be in the spec sheet.
No, AC+ can only be bought within 30 or 60 days after purchase, you as a 2nd owner do not fall under that rule.

I have traded in Apple devices under AC+ still and got refunds. Last time I traded in an AW under AC+ still I asked the agent if it could be transferred if I were to sell it to someone. Their answer was yes, but it would be best to have old and new owner on the phone at the same time as this owenership transfer process is "complicated".

While I heard the same as @Bigwaff is posting above, I'd call Apple support and get their official answer, they might make an exception

It is still covered by 1-yr limited warranty until 09/2025, that is true. However, AC+ is different and month-to-month is not transferable and will expire. You may not be eligible to renew month-to-month or add fixed term. But doesn’t hurt to ask.
