Hi all,

Purchased a phone off-contract directly through Apple. I just spoke with an AT&T rep who stated that he had successfully unlocked my phone.

My question is this - in years past, I've had to go in to iTunes and restore the phone in order to complete the unlock process, however I was told this wouldn't be necessary.

I am going overseas on Wednesday and want to make sure this is taken care of by then.. just wondering if any of you have had a similar experience.

Thanks!

Correct, you no longer need to restore through iTunes. If you want to be sure it is unlocked, insert a T-mobile SIM to confirm. If you purchased it full price from Apple, it shouldn’t have been locked in the first place.
