Okay so I'm not sure if this is the right section to ask this. I have a 2014 MBP which has both analog and optical digital audio output through the 3.5mm jack. I'm currently running a Micca Origen+ DAC/amp via the USB on my Mac to bypass the internal DAC in the Mac. That Micca also has an optical line input as well. My question is this. If I were to use optical audio out from my Mac and into the Micca will I be running off the internal DAC in the Mac or would that still be bypassed? If it's not bypassed would going from one DAC to another be bad in anyway for sound quality? Sorry if this question is in the wrong section. Just figured it was a Mac hardware question.
This is the Micca Origen+ page for reference. https://www.miccatron.com/micca-origen-usb-audio-dac-and-preamp-2/ I use it to drive my headphones and it can be used if I had external powered speakers.
