Question about buying A Mac...

I am looking to switch over to a Mac, and purchase A 1GHZ 17" Imac. However I heard that Panther 10.3 will be coming out in June, and I am wondering even though I need a new computer really bad, if there will be enough upgrades, and advantages to waiting for 10.3?? I am new so Please help me. thank you

10.3 is supposed to be revolutionary.
ppc 970 is supposed to be great.
just wait until after wwdc...it'll be worth it

10.3 won't be out until late September most likely. I would certainly wait until after WWDC in June to see where the company is going this year. I'd hate to see you buy and then find out there was something better.
