I’m buying a new MBA to replace my dying 2012 rMBP. My old laptop is a bit of a mess, and I’m looking for a clean install.

I have all of my docs and desktop synced to iCloud.

Instead of running Migration Assistant, can I just log into iCloud and iTunes after setup and have it sync download all of my files from cloud to new laptop?

I know that I’ll have to download some of my third party apps, like Office, manually.

Large files like my downloaded music library I have backed up on an external drive for easy copying.

Thanks!

Once you setup the new machine and use the same iCloud account, all of your files in iCloud Drive should be available in the Files app. I noticed this when I set up my new MacBook Air a few days ago.
