I realize, based on searches and Google searches, that my oldest machines will SUPPORT Yosemite, but is it a good idea?

My machines:

late 2008 aluminum Macbook
late 2009 Core 2 Duo 21 inch iMac
Mid 2012 MBP 13inch
Late 2013 Retina MPB 13

Obviously, the MPB's will support it fine... and I am running Mavericks on the iMac and Macbook, but would it be foolish to upgrade?

Mavericks runs wonderfully on my older core 2 duo machines; I guess Yosemite will also. Will it support features offered (Except airplay mirroring which isn't supported on C2D machines)?

Yep OS X Yosemite will work but features like Continuity, Handoff will not work for those those 2 machines. of course Airplay mirroring will still not work as it was, no change in that.
