I am looking for a desk mounted monitor swing arm for an eventual 49" Utrawide Monitor.

This one came highly recommended

Here is the problem. My desk has thick wood back paneling along its back that would prevent me from clamping this on dead center. However, the wood backing does not completely cover the entire desk.

If I go 21" to the left-center to mount, will there be enough arm extension in the mount to make the screen centered across the desk? Is it a bad idea to mount it in that fashion?

I like the swing arm idea as I can move the monitor forward if I have problems reading it.

Ignore the monitors in the photo below. They are dual 27" monitors and I am looking to replace them with a single 49" ultrawide

It supports bolt through. That's another option to get it centered. Even if the supplied bolt isn't long enough. You could always buy a longer bolt which is long enough.

I would rather not throw any bolts into my desk. The clamp mount was the most appealing aspect.

The question remains as to whether the clamp can be mounted off-center and whether it has a long enough arm to center the entire display across my desk.

Thanks for the help
