Question about dock/stereo

Actually two questions.
1. Which brand do you trust for best overal quality and sound? (I'm looking to spend around 90 tops)
2. They say that keeping your phone on the charger is bad so is there a way to have your phone not charge while docked? Or is it okay to have it charging on the dock?

This is a can of worms that will boil down to personal preference and budget. Most docks will trickle charge when in use so I think that concern is more myth.
