I'm planning on buying the new iPod Touch but I was wondering how applications are downloaded. I don't have a wireless router, is that a problem? Can I just download (buy) the apps on my PC and transfer the file to my iPod Touch with the USB-cable?

Yes! That is what most people do, since that is the only way to browse the store for free apps.
