iPhone 7/Plus Question about encrypted Backups

Hey guys,
So I have an iPhone (iOS 10) that I usually back up to my laptop and the backup is encrypted. Now I wanna backup my iPhone to another laptop, but I'm worried that something might go wrong since the backup is encrypted on one laptop, but the other one has never backed up my iPhone yet, and therefore wouldn't "remember" that the iPhone is encrypted, and may ask to encrypt the backup again or something.
Any thoughts on this? Is it safe to backup an encrypted iPhone on another PC?

This is not a problem. I do iPhone encrypted backups on both office and home desktops. The backups stay on the desktops and it is the backups that are encrypted. When you try to use either backup, it will ask for the passcode before it will restore your phone.

It is a good idea to back up on different devices.

But I was wondering do you have to use the same backup password on both laptops? Since the iPhone is now "programmed" to have its backups encrypted with a certain key, do you have to use it across all your computers?

This is where I think you are getting confused. The iPhone does not have a certain key, it is your DESKTOP or LAPTOP that has the key and you unlock it with the password when restoring. You can use the same password while backing up to other devices, it does not matter.

So that means when i click on "encrypt backup" I'm actually only encrypting it for the said PC and not on any other device right?

That is 100% correct. You are encrypting your backup on your computer so it will be safe and no one else could use it. Only that particular password will allow you to use the backup.
