Question about external keyboard for iPad Air

Well I just love my new iPad Air and know I'll be using it very often.

I have the wireless keyboard which came with my iMac last Dec., and wonder if it can be paired with the iPad? So far, I haven't been able to get the iPad to respond to it.

I have a wired extended keyboard (couldn't do without those four essential keys: Home, End, Page Up and Page Down ) for the iMac, and had assumed I could use the wireless one with the iPad. Is this assumption incorrect?

If it should work, can someone help me pair it with the iPad? Please? I've already tried all the little steps I thought should do the trick, but no joy.

It should be as simple as turning the keyboard on, confirming it is in discoverable mode (i.e. the indicator light blinks green), and then finding the keyboard in the settings app on the iPad and pairing it. Make sure the keyboard isn't paired to the iMac first.

Thanks so much for responding. What you suggested is exactly what I've done and the keyboard just does not find the iPad.

I asked the question because I wondered if I were forgetting some important step. It must be something faulty in the keyboard.

I agree and the keyboard must be disconnected from the iMac, because the iMac can't find the keyboard, either. Right?

Yeah, they are freshly charged.

Well, it Was the batteries after all. (blushing)

I must have grabbed some uncharged batteries because when another set were tried, everything worked as it should.

So embarrassed, but this is good for curing false pride, eh?
