Does anybody know how data is transferred from daisy-chained FireWire devices? For instance, if I plug a 12" PowerBook into a 15" MacBook Pro with FW400, and then plug an external drive into the MacBook Pro with FW800, and boot the MBP into Target Disk Mode, will the external drive show up on the PowerBook? More importantly, if I use the PowerBook to clone the MBP drive to the external drive, will the data have to go through the PowerBook before it gets to the external drive? Or can it just go straight from the MBP to the external drive (thus making the transfer use only the FW800, and be much faster).
Sorry if that is ridiculously confusing. I can try to clarify if you need me to.
Thanks for all your help in advance.
EDIT: Reason I want to know is because the MBP doesn't boot from its internal drive. I'd like to use Carbon Copy Cloner from the PowerBook, but if it's going to go at FW400 speed, I may just boot eh MBP from the install disc and "restore" the internal drive to the external with Disk Utility.
