Question about giving my 3G to my wife...

When I get my iPhone 4, I'll be giving my 3G to my wife as she isn't eligible for an upgrade until April of next year. When I activate my iPhone 4, do I just call up AT&T can have them switch her # to my old 3G or do we actually have to physically go to the AT&T store to get that done?
 
I am doing the same thing. I asked an ATT rep yesterday and he said just pop her sim into the 3G and sync it with Itunes and it will prompt to activate the data plan under her #.
