Question about going back to my 5

I need to go back to my 5 briefly... I am returning my 6 in hopes of a 6 plus someday. I am on At&t. Do I need a new sim or can I just return the phone to apple and get my old phone turned on again? If I need a new sim, can I just pick it up on the way to the Apple Store and leave with a functioning phone from apple?

Just did this exact same thing today. What I did was move the SIM from the 6 to my 5 and it was back up and running. Returned the 6 to the retail store, told them I kept the SIM so I can keep using my 5. No problem, return done, and upgrade eligibility with AT&T reinstated immediately.
