Hello!

Well I'm getting ready for my new iPod Nano, I would like to put the movie "Cars" on it. So I downloaded HandBrake, but on my ibook it says it will take 8h20m to convert  will this be faster on me dad's C2D iMac?

Thanks in advanced!

Your iBook uses (at best) a two year old processor. Yes, a C2D iMac will be ALOT faster.

Well on my iBook g4 it was doing 3-6 FPS. And on my dad's C2D 2ghz iMac it was doing 36-40 FPS, all iPod low-res. And Cars is a 1h 16m movie.

I'd say it will be a bit faster than that. What I've found with Handbrake is that it's time estimates aren't usually too accurate unlike MactheRipper which is bang on.

It was going higher, it was at 11h57m when I quit it.

On the iMac it finished in about an hour.

It's taking 8 hours because the movie is region locked and ripping directly from Handbrake will cause the region lock to rip at a snail's pace of 3-4fps.

Use "MacTheRipper" to copy the image of the dvd on your HDD getting rid of the region lock. Once you do that Handbrake should rip at least 10 times faster.
