I asked this in the "just purchased my..." thread but I not sure how often users look at that thread so I will post it here.
I just purchased a M1 Macbook Air. Switching from the M1 Mini which has a couple more USB ports, the laptop will be docked 90% of the time and connected to a 4K/60hz monitor with no scaling via displayport. I see a lot of hubs on Amazon that have Displayport 4K and like 10 other things in one hub. Multiple USB 2 and 3, Ethernet, Charging...
Is there any concern having so many things flowing through one port? Will my display or usb keyboard and mouse start to lag when I am downloading over my gigabit ethernet?
I have a thunderbolt 3 external drive that I store all of my photos and files on that would be the only thing connected to the other port, but if there are going to be bottlenecks with everything else, especially my keyboard/mouse or video, I will find a different USB-C drive and use 2 hubs and spread it across both hubs/ports.
