Hi all. If I IM someone on my buddy list, who I know is away based on the red dot next to their name...sometimes their away message does not respond to whatever I type.

Like, I will send an IM and get no response, the automated one does not come through. Any idea what this means?

Thanks!

Do you know what chat client this particular person uses?

My main client is Adium. I know that when I put an away message up, I have the option whether or not to 'auto-reply' with that message.

For iChat, if you go to Preferences > General there is an option similar to that as well.

Hope this helps.

It could be their settings as well. They might have it set on their preferences that their away message doesn't get sent.
