Question about iCloud backup.

Got asked a question today regarding the iCloud backup. I have an unlimited data plan, so I didn't really have an answer for it, but how does the iCloud backup work? Does it use WiFi, or your data? I'd imagine if it uploads the backups using your data, then it would get used up fast if the person is on a 300mb plan.

It only does automatic backups when charging and on wifi. Users can start manual backups while it's not charging but only if it's on wifi. It won't backup on cellular at all.
