I'm a new iCloud user and have a question. I just uploaded around 4000 photos to the cloud to free up storage space on my MacBook Pro. Before I delete the photos from my MacBook I want to make sure they're safe in the cloud and that apple won't delete them for any reason. I've paid for the 50G of extra storage and don't plan on uploading many more photos. Will my photos be safe in the cloud? Thank you!!!!
 
Yes, they'll be safe in the cloud, but it's always a good idea to have multiple backups (external drives, DVDs etc) and not rely solely on one option.

What you're seeing in the Photos app are optimized versions to help you save space. This is an automatic process. Because you're allowing iCloud Photos to manage your photos in the Photos app, you don't want to delete anything in the Photos app.
