I tried a search but I guess I was using the wrong terms...

This is my desktop now (see attached, resized for meet the 1.14mb limit). I have it set to show the total size and size remaining of all mounted drives, but it does not fully show the size remaining. In one of the desktop threads, I saw that it can be done, and it seems stupid that they would design it the way I currently have set. Can anybody help me out?

I have tried that and it doesn't do much. Even when the icons are the biggest available, the information just doesn't show up
Edit: Font size doesn't do anything either. Just makes it tiny.

Still not doing it. I tried the grid size, the icon size, font size, labels on the right side. It just doesn't seem to work out. I don't know why and I wish I could find the picture I had seen.

try these settings

this is what i have set and my drives info is all visible.

also try a label position to the right. if these dont work then youve got one decimal too much.

It is strange because I have tired those setting but that is exactly what I want. I guess I can try it again when I get home this afternoon, but it hasn't worked yet.

Do a right click on the desktop and you will get the options that are shown above. Try decreasing the text to 11pt.

icon labels cut off

These are old postings but some are still having this problem. Here is my take on the solutions.
I would say your problem is definitely your grid size. Make sure to close all applications. Then open View/Show View Options and change font to12 or 10 and increase grid size and watch your Icon info as you do. This is OS 10. 7.5.
Doesn't hurt to reboot and try again.

if this doesn't work I would suggest you have a deep seated problem. Go to
http://mac.appstorm.net/reviews/utilities/onyx-free-system-maintenance-software-for-mac/ and download this free software program. Run all the maintenance, utilities, cleanup, permissions checks you can find once it opens. This will do a lot to put you Mac back into a correct set of parameters.
