Question about imovie

When you import camera footage into imovie does it store it as a .mov file or does it store it as something else? Where does it store it?

It gets stored as a .dv file. As for where it's stored, in iMovie HD, it is stored in the Media folder within the iMovie Project file. You can see this by right-clicking the .iMovieProject file, selecting Show Package Contents, and opening up the Media folder.

.dv, what is up with that? How can you export that to a file that is playable on a PC?
