Question about importing pictures into iphoto.

Hi guys

i am using iphoto 08, i fully understands how this program works and i am satisfy with it.

yet one thing that really troubles me a lot, is that i really find the pictures looks a bit different after they are being import into iphoto, perharps a bit darker in contrast or level.

i am wondering whether i am thinking too much and the program really works like this. if yes please tell me how to deactivated this function.
