Is my understanding correct that if something happens to my iPhone (3G 16GB) after the 1yr warranty that Apple will simply replace it on the spot at an Apple store for a fee of $199? That's how I interpreted it after reading Apple's website.

The reason I ask is that my iPhone 3G is about to be out of warranty and I purchased it with a platinum credit card which extends the warranty by an additional year. According to the claim form/terms of the warranty extension, I only have to submit a repair bill for reimbursement as long as the repair costs less than the original purchase price ($499 in my case). It seems that I can skip the AppleCare warranty extension as long as I understand the $199 Apple replacement fee correctly. I also want to make sure that the replacement is on the spot, as I don't want to be without a phone for days if something should happen.

Thanks!
