Since there is no home button and you need to swipe up instead, how does it know the difference of scrolling VS trying to hit the home button?

I scroll with good length with the iPhone 7 plus so I'm afraid it thinks I'm going to want to go "home".

Plus, will this Face ID allow an identical twin to unlock their brother/sisters phone?

Do you typically scroll from the bottom most part of the screen? If not then you will be fine.

If you aren't currently pulling up control center when you scroll then you won't have issues.

1. Currently do you call up the control center accidentally when you scroll? If not, you shouldn't go home by accident either. Just don't swipe from the very bottom of the device.

2. They seemed vague about twins. I suspect that yes, twins might be a problem, but of course that only applies to a small percentage of the population.
