I have a 4G 30GB iPod Photo currently. I remember when this was being advertised on apple.com(Also on the box that I still currently have) it says the 30GB can hold 7,500 songs. Although, on Apple's website it says the 32GB iPod Touch actually holds LESS than my 30GB with only 7,000 songs. Am I actually getting less space on the 32GB Touch than me 30GB Photo? Why does Apple advertise that the 8GB Nano can hold 2,000 songs while the 8GB Touch can only hold 1,750?

Also, how much space is available on the 32GB touch after formatting?

Thanks!

Not only is it formatting a different type of disk, but one must also take into consideration the size of the more complex operating system and the user data that it must store. You're still getting the same proportional amount of space per gigabyte, but that space is used differently between devices.

Yeah... Think about about much more info and default data they need to have on the ipod touch then a regular ipod.
