Could someone please direct me towards a basic source of information on how an iPod works, how you would load songs on it, and how it connects to the PowerBook?

You insert a music CD into your macbook pro, you open iTunes, you click the import button on the top right cornor. Do this until you have all your music on the laptop, then connect your iPod Via the usb connection that comes with the iPod. One you connect you will get be asked if you have the iPod linked to this music libary and then you clickj yes. Then all your music will be downloaded into your iPod (which might take some time if you have a large music collection).

As to using teh iPod its very easy, click middle button to switch it on, the "<<" and ">>" buttons do what you think they do and the and you have teh scroll wheel which scrolls round and round.

Thats it, its scrolls like butter.

All you need to do is to:

1) Connect iPod to the computer
2) Watch iTunes transfer your songs from it's libaray to iPod
3) Disconnect iPod and rock! :D

OR, you can read the manual that comes with every iPod :)
