I own a MacBook Pro (2008) and a Western Digital MyStudio external hard drive. It had 2 firewire 800 ports on the back and a USB connection. I'd like to buy another WD MyBook Studio Pro. Can I connect my old one to the new one using the firewire connection and then plug the new one into my laptop? So that I'll only need one firewire connection for both drives?

Oh yes, and it would be the older MyBook Studio II to a new MyBook Studio
Thanks,
Sanne

Yeah it should work. Plug in your first hard drive into your computer, then plug the second drive via fire wire to the first one.

Thanks for your reply!
I've been doing some research and there are many negative reactions on the new MyBook Studio (the software on it, etc). Do you think I could buy a LaCie drive and connect it to the MyBook I already own? Or is brand mixing 'not done'??

That should be fine, I don't see a problem except that maybe your MyBook software might prove some difficulties. In fact I'm getting a lacie HD too for college. Seems like a nice brand.
