I just got a new MacBook Pro, but have not gotten around to using the Migration Assistant to transfer the files from the older one. I just wanted to know. If I start putting new programs and other media onto the newer one, will it all get erased when I use Migration Assistant? Or will Migration Assistant just add the files from the old mac to whatever I have already put on the new one?

It will just add data from the other mac...

Migration Assistant is a really cool feature of OS X. Microsoft has never gotten something like that to work nearly as well as Apple has.
