Im using a Samsung 40in 4K (UN40KU6300) as my monitor with my PC using HDMI.. I know it its an older TV but.. I just upgraded my computer to a Mac mini M4 and I noticed the monitor just doesn't look good using Facebook or social media some (a lot) of the photos look kinda dark but other things look great and movies and videos look good.. it did it with my PC also.. So I am wanting to upgrade to a new monitor.. I do not play games all I use it for is Photo Editing and some iMovie stuff and numbers (Excel) social media and YouTube.. I was looking at the Samsung Neo G7 43in or the Samsung M70D both are right around the same price .. Your Thoughts? or keep old one. I want to stay around the 500 or so budget

Before you go plunking down money for a new 40" monitor, why don't you try playing around with profiles for your current display?

Settings app>Displays>Color Profile

Check the color profile for your current display. It might have selected the wrong one or there isn't any for that device.
If there is none, try some of the other profiles.

It’s set to Samsung I don’t know what else to do.

A search on the forum will give you more reading than you would want to read on monitor selections. You may try reseting your monitor to its factory defaults. Open your Facebook or social media and then try other monitor settings on your M4 and adjusting the monitor while observing the display. I had to do this when i updated my M2 to a M4.

I have don’t all that and also no one talks about monitors over 32 or so inches. I am asking about 40 + monitors

I missed that you are using a TV as a monitor in your first sentence as you then talked about Monitors. When you were searching did you see this:
Is a 4K TV good for a PC monitor?
What are the disadvantages of using a TV as a monitor?
What are the disadvantages of using a TV as a monitor? Most Smart TVs are not designed to have fast response times which could be detrimental for gaming and professional graphic work. They also don't have the same pixel density as PC monitors. Hence, the image display will likely lose sharpness and overall quality.

I understand that and I do not play games at all.. nothing not even solitare lol.. I am by no means doing anything professional lol.. just tinkering here and there with iMovie and photoshop lol.. that's it and that isn't but maybe 1 everything other month lol..

Try creating a custom color profile, if it does not work, delete it and go back to Samsung.

Understand. I only see two choices, Live with what you have (TV) and making adjustments for it or getting another Newer TV / Monitor = $$$.
Look at the specs for your M4 (video) and make you choice based on these numbers and the connection that you want to use. (USB-C, HDMI, thunderbolt, etc)
I would suggest Amazon because of their return policy. Read carefully to verify that you can return item and keep all packaging. Don't forget to think about future proofing your choice and getting the BEST Certified cables that you will need.
Good Luck.

Do you have "ChatGPT" ? Ask for suggestions with all of your requirements and $$$. Just may work. :)

This one is a very good monitor and not too expensive, it has a Mini LED array what helps reducing halos an backlight bleeding and the technology is 2nd best, only an OLED would be better but there are many widescreen ones but not that many are 4K UHD, the Samsung is 4K UHD with 3840x2160 pixels:

If you're going to get another tv to serve as the display
or...
If you're going to get a LARGE display (such as 40-43")
then...
I suggest you get something with an OLED panel.

I use the tv little any more, but when I go to a place like BJ's or Costco, they usually have new OLED tv's running HDF material, and it looks ... spectacular.

Although, not sure if the visual splendor would "translate" well to Mac usage...

I was thinking about this one but I head a few things about ghosting that I don't understand.. but I like the price and looks of it.. plus I think its a monitor first and TV Second.. but maybe if they focused on it being a monitor first it would be better then the Samsung TV that I am using now that doesn't mention being a monitor at all.. But is it for gaming and not so good for other stuff or what?

Ghosting is an issue you would notice if you would play games, it is basically an effect that could be described as if you move an object fast (as it is done in high frame rate games), it would then look to your eyes as if it would leave some ghosting like looking trails behind the moving object, this is no issue you will ever notice using this monitor as a monitor, ghosting is something that gamers do not want to see on their high frame rate games. Since this ghosting only happens eventually with high frame rate games, you can us this monitor perfectly fine in any content creation situation and even in games.

This monitor has smart features, so this means it is also usable as a TV, and you can also use it as a player for Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming platforms. It also has decent speakers and of courese a remote control
