Question about moving clips from iMovie to external drive

I am relatively new to the iMac and iMovie. I have imported many clips into iMovie but I would like to put them on a backup external hard drive. Where can I find them on my hard drive? Or can I drag and drop them?

They should be in Home Folder>Movies>iMovie Events. In iMovie, select a clip in the Events Library, Right/Ctrl click and select reveal in Finder. You can then drag them to your external drive, but Time Machine will back them up.
