Question about my new Airport Express

I just got a new Airport Express. I have it setup with one SSID for just my Macbook. Then the "guest" SSID for my upstairs desktop. When I flip back and forth between the two on my Macbook, is there any reason why the "guest" one seems faster?

I would like SSID 1 to be my fastest and can be JUST N. SSID 2 would just be a backup for the upstairs PC and can be B/G Mixed.

Any suggestions? THANKS!
