1. Can I add 2 external Monitors? I understand there is a device called USB VGA Adaptor 2.0 which essentially works off the USB port. I was wondering if anyone ever tried this. My PowerMac6.3 has a mini-vga output port but I can't find this cable anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get one?
You must use the mini-VGA out to add an external screen. All USB video out devices use a chip called a DisplayLink chip. This chip does not have any PowerPC Mac OS X drivers. By default your machine will only mirror what is on the internal screen to the external. You will have to use a script called Screen Spanning Doctor to enable it to have an extended screen.
It's funny, just earlier this week I was shopping for the right mini VGA output cable for my iBook. I searched everywhere, and finally came up with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Generic...ion_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item485d4e3a21
It is aftermarket, but it is the only one I could find that was compatible, as the newer cables only fit in the newer, different ports.
