Hi all,

      Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1
      Total Number Of Cores: 2
      L2 Cache: 6 MB
      Memory: 4 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

      SMC Version (system): 1.48f2
      Serial Number (system): W89243R5644
      Hardware UUID: E88574F4-8FA5-5C59-B3F3-CFD72E13B2CD
      Sudden Motion Sensor:
          State: Enabled

The system profiler tells me the following about my memory:

Code:
Memory Slots:

      ECC: Disabled

        BANK 0/DIMM0:

          Size: 2 GB
          Type: DDR3
          Speed: 1067 MHz
          Status: OK
          Manufacturer: 0x80CE
          Part Number: 0x4D34373142353637334548312D4346382020
          Serial Number: 0x82BAD377

        BANK 1/DIMM0:

          Size: 2 GB
          Type: DDR3
          Speed: 1067 MHz
          Status: OK
          Manufacturer: 0x80CE
          Part Number: 0x4D34373142353637334548312D4346382020
          Serial Number: 0x82BAD3C3

My question is the following: Is it normal that ECC is disabled ? I thought it would be enabled by default on new computers.

I am running snow leopard with all current updates.

Thanks a lot

Max

Is the ram even ECC capable? I don't pay much attention to end user hardware, but to my knowledge, you only see ECC ram in servers and high-end workstations.
