Hi,

I've put in a request with my carrier, Vodafone UK, to have my iPhone 4S unlocked. I got an email today that said they had "submitted a request for unlocking your handset & the reference number of your request is <number>" - which according to their people on Twitter means the request has been sent to Apple.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Apple to unlock an iPhone once they've received the request from the carrier? It's been about 10 hours since I received that email and it's still not working with my O2 UK SIM.

After your carrier has submitted the unlock request, you have to restore the iPhone in iTunes. It's iTunes that does the actual unlocking as the iPhone isn't setup to do so.
