Hi,

I'm thinking about ordering my first iMac, sometime within the next few months. If I go into the Apple Store and get one, can they add more ram and upgrade the video card, or do I have to order online to do that?

Thanks, Jerry

If you want to specify upgrade options (Built-to-order or BTO), order it online.

Thanks, I thought maybe that might be the best way to go.
However, don't order RAM from Apple. It's way overpriced.

What they said. Upgrading the RAM in an iMac is easy cheesy. Makes me wonder - can you special order a Mac without any RAM at all? If not, get the smallest amount you can, and then do the upgrade yourself. Just pay attention to the number of slots in the machine, how many of those slots are used by the Apple installed chips, and how much total ram you want to have after the upgrade.
