Hi!
I've got a 2015 macbook pro and I'm planning on replacing the hdd with an nvme with adapter. I'm also planning on upgrading to sonoma with Opencore Legacy Patcher

My question is, I use the macbook to do a lot of audio production and have some pluging bought that work with ilok license software, this software licenses each plugin to the specific computer. Will my licenses dissapear if I clone the old hdd into the new one? Will they dissapear after I use Opencore Legacy Patcher? I have experience with hackintosh and as far as I know on hackintosh Opencore fakes te serial number with the one of a compatible mac, don't know if it does it too with real macs and if that can confuse ilok making it think I'm using a different machine

You'll need to contact you software vendor or iLok (depending on who you're usually in touch with to resolve your license issues). They have to provide you with a way to activate your software on a new machine/hdd no matter what. You shouldn't guess if your licenses disappear or not when you switch machines or hard drives, whichever way you choose to do so.

Although if you mention that your system is running on an unsupported machine they may (or may not) refuse to provide you any support at all (as you may know anyway).

I looked up iLok briefly and it appears that they provide a license portal where you can transfer your license if needed. I assume you can deactivate it on the old defunct machine/drive and activate it on the new one. At least that's a standard option that license platforms provide in this case.

Other than that, you won't know until you try.
