I am about to buy parallels 7, however is there any reason to purchase the extended download service?

"We’ll automatically store on our server a back-up copy of the software that you purchased and downloaded for two (2) years from the date of purchase"

Can't you just re-download a trial and put in your cd key?

Am I missing something here?

Do they keep all versions for download. Could be that a subsequent release wouldn't work with your license.

Have you tried Oracle VirtualBox yet? It's free and the latest release seems to be much better.

My personal opinion on this is that its a waste of money. Download parallels and back up your download. Save your money.

Would love to hear your thoughts on Parallels 7 after you download and play with it. I purchased it yesterday based on all of the hype about tight integration with Lion features, yada, yada and extended battery life. I haven't see either. I haven't played with it a ton but it doesn't seem much different than version 6.
