Here's the story.
I installed Lion today (I was really excited about it) but I wanted to do a Clean Install so I ripped the disk image into a DVD and I also made a partition to backup some files, aside from that I already had another partition with a backup of all my apps.
Long story short, I installed Lion, copied my apps from the backup partition and for some reason I decided to delete that partition to save space, so I went to the Disk Utility and without thinking twice I I selected the "Apps Backup" partition and deleted it taping on the minus sign. It told me I would only delete that one but it actually made both of my backup partitions disappear and left me with a "disk0s4" that I cant repair or mount even though the log file says it didn't erase the other "File Backup" partition.
Well after a quick Google search I couldn't find much help so after a long evening of self-loathing (lol) I just decided to try and manually rebuild my backup, Thankfully 80% of my files were safe in Dropbox.
Lesson learned: a partition in your main drive is not a safe backup... But I'm still not sure what I did wrong in the Disk Utility. Does some one know? Could you please explain?
Thanks for listening.
