Hello,

Does memory usage affect the speed of the phone?

My friend has the 16GB iPhone 3G and you can tell that the phone is relatively slow when running applications (What'sApp mainly).

Does that have to do with the fact that his 16GB are almost filled with music and he has 1GB of free space? Or memory doesn't have to do with the processor of a device?

Also, can someone please explain what's the advantage of jailbreaking a phone?

Thanks

The problems your friend is seeing will be more to do with the iPhone 3G's lack of RAM (well at least in comparision to the iPhone 4). Unfortunately this is not upgradable.

So if he gets the iPhone 4 (which is planning on doing anyway) will the performance be speedier even though there are plenty of songs, or would still continue to be slow?

Thanks

I would advise against purchasing the iPhone 4 right now. Rumours (and history) suggest that a new iPhone may come out in June. This is of course, unless they want to.
