I ordered a 12 from Apple because ATT was doing something with accounts and every time I’d log in, it would bring me to DirecTV. Finally got that straightened out on Monday, and ordered a 12 through ATT (I just prefer all my devices on one account when possible).

Anyway, my daughter is trying to order one and her delivery dates would be a week or two out.

Question is - will the phone I ordered from Apple automatically set up and activate with MY phone number, since that’s the information I put in when I ordered, or could we put her SIM from her 11 in it and she use that one?

I surely don’t want to activate two phones with my number, but I DID order the Apple one as an ATT phone, and I put my phone number in during the process.

I’m okay to just return the Apple one, but I just wanted to see if this was possible first.

The owner adds their Apple ID and SIM card in the setup process.

Apple doesn’t preconfigure their devices. They don’t know who you’ll hand it to, hence me pointing out that all relevant information is put in by the owner when setting up.
This is correct.
I did the same thing with last year's 11 phone - 2 were ordered under the same phone number and when they arrived, my son configured for his number and mine was setup as normal.
