Apologies for the vagueness of the topic but I have a question about using the Pictures folder in OS X. My aunt came back from China recently and on her Vista machine, in her My Pictures folder, she has her photos in folders according to event/place. She can then go into these folders and scroll through the pictures with previews of each one. Does something like this work with OS X or is that what we use iPhoto for? It seems kind of silly to have to open an app to do something as simple as look at various pictures.

You can put them into iphoto which gives you a lot of options such as editing, easy emailing, etc. but you can simply use cover flow which is available under any folder. Just copy and paste the photos into any folder and then at the top of the finder window you will see four options for viewing. The one to the farthest right is for cover flow.
