Question about pre-ordering.

Never done it before, but hope to pre-order a "4G" online when it's available. My question is, do you have to sign up for ATT online to be able to purchase it? Since currently I'm not an ATT customer; I would think you would because to get it for that price you have to be signed up on the carrier? Thanks

Obviously because you'll need to be providing your carrier with details in relation to your contract with them. You can't expect to go into a pay monthly contract without your provider knowing what you're credit details are.

I thought you can do this all on Apple's website and sign up for service. Last time I checked I require a $250 deposit.

you can do it all (start a new account, add a second line to the account, or replace a phone on your current account) from www.store.apple.com. And Yes, you have to sign up for AT&T service before Apple ships the phone to you.
