Okay, so I'm an existing AT&T customer. I am an on a family plan with 3 other phones on the plan. My phone becomes upgrade eligible on February 4th, will I be able to purchase the iPhone for $199? I am very confused by this. Please tell me my options, thank you very much.

Thanks

Thank you so much!

That helps.

Also, I have a regular samsung phone, is it the same thing?

Sorry, I mean that I don't have a first gen. iPhone, I have a generic phone, so getting the iPhone 3G for $199 will still work?

Yeah, if you're eligible for an upgrade you're eligible to buy all subsidized phones, the catch is you have to agree to the phone's terms. In this case, the iPhone will require you to sign a 2 year contract and add a data plan, and obviously pay $199
