I am in desperate need of a new laptop but I am waiting until Oct 14 to see if the new macbooks do actually come out. If they do come out on this date will it be easy to purchase the macbooks the day it comes out from the mac store or will it be difficult like the Iphone was??

thanks for the help

It depends. If the macbooks are made available that day, it may not be impossible to obtain one from a retail location. It will be difficult, yes, but because of very limited supply rather than extremely high demand (as was the case with the iPhone). However, it's far more likely that the new macbooks won't arrive at retail locations until later in the week.

Your best bet is most likely purchasing online, and if you order right after the keynote, you should manage to obtain an order that ships within a few days.

This is of course assuming that the MacBooks are released on October 14, and not just announced, with both scenarios falling under an even larger assumption: the rumored October 14 event.

The other hitch with the iphone was that a service contract was required - obviously the not the case here.
