I have a mid-2012 MBP 13-inch model with 2.9 GHz processor, 512GB Samsung 830 SSD, and 8GB RAM.
I'm not sure I entirely understand the concept of RAM. I currently have an Ubuntu distribution on VirtualBox, which I specifically need for one of my classes. I devoted 2048 MB of memory to that specific VM. So will that 2048 MB of memory ALWAYS be taken? or just when it's running?
I'm also setting up Windows in VirtualBox since some of my software just runs better on it. I'm trying to decide how much memory to devote to it. Is 2048 MB okay again or will it need something more. I'm only going to be using one or two programs on it (LabVIEW and possibly SolidWorks if anyone is familiar).
Lastly, does the MBP 13-inch 2012 model RELIABLY support 16GB of RAM? I know it needs to be 1.35v but I've read that some people have had trouble trying to install 16 GB.
