I set up a replacement using apple care and the guy said it will be a white box with no retail packaging but will be brand new because of circulation.

Someone else here said they were transferred to sales for a brand new retail replacement but the guy I spoke to said this is not possible and will just be a return and buy new and I'll end up waiting two months.

Did I do the right way?

Apple will pickup the Apple Watch and then ship you a replacement once they are available. As it is a replacement your shipment has a higher priority over new orders, still means you will potentially have to wait a few weeks for it.

Can I ask why you are having yours replaced? I am having mine replaced as there is a blemish on the SS case.
